If you love sangria then you’ll LOVE this sangria slush! Ready in 5 minutes and this only needs a few easy ingredients.
Look, let’s get real. Quarantine sucks and it’s getting hot. You’ll need a pick-me-up and this is such a great option! Frosty, boozy and refreshing and best of all, no wait time to marinate!
Here’s why you’re going to love this:
Other than the fact that it’s sangria.
- This requires no wait and marinate time! This is done in under 5 minutes ready to go.
- You don’t need anything crazy for this recipe. This just requires a few simple ingredients, most of which you probably already have on hand!
- This is frozen and so refreshing. Perfect for warm weather and sipping outside.
Ingredients:
Ingredient Notes:
- I suggest using Grand Marnier orange liqueur. I think it pairs best with red wine, however any orange liqueur will work!
- If you don’t have frozen strawberries specifically on hand, you can use a frozen berry mix! Or you can use fresh strawberries, but add a little more ice.
- I like to use Spanish red wine here (because I fell in love with sangria in Spain) like a Grenache or Tempranillo, but you can use most other red wines like Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. No need to use an expensive bottle.
How to make frozen sangria slush:
Throw all ingredients in a blender (the juice from half the lemon, not the entire half lemon).
Blend until ice is fully crushed and everything is incorporated. Do a taste check with a spoon to make sure you have enough balance (i.e. does it need more agave or lemon) and serve! Top with any sliced fresh fruit you have on hand, as desired.
FAQ
- What kind of wine should I use for red sangria? Spanish wines are great (like Tempranillo or Grenache) however sangria is also great with Merlot, Pinot Noir or Cabernet Sauvignon. If you want your sangria a little heavier and more full bodied, use a Cab.
- Can you get drunk from sangria? Yes, that is the goal. Just kidding, but yes you can – drink responsibly.
- What orange liqueur should I use? I suggest Grand Marnier, however any orange liqueur will be fine.
- What fruit is good for frozen sangria? If you’re going to top this with some fruit I suggest fresh citrus, strawberries, mango (fun twist), apple or pear. I wouldn’t use other berries because they will freeze and lose a bit of flavor. Also, don’t use bananas because that would be gross. Please.
