Happy Fifth of July everyone! Hopefully you all had a lovely holiday. I spent mine with my family and we had a great time as usual. We made some sangria and jalapeno poppers, and we ended the day with a giant cast iron pan cookie, so good. I was going to make this cocktail but sangria was requested instead so I’m going to share this with you just because! This is a Spicy pink Paloma recipe. Drool.
Who else LOVES spicy drinks? I feel like that’s all I want to make these days because they’re so damn tasty. I will choose a drink with jalapeno on the menu any day of the week over a traditional cocktail. That extra component of flavor is too delish to pass up! I actually just enjoyed these on my trip to Napa a couple of weeks ago and felt the need to remake it immediately. I’ve had spicy palomas in the past, but the version at Farmstead in Napa was beyond good, so I had to remake it my way.
This Paloma recipe has 4 ingredients and takes all of 2 seconds to make ( I mean that’s kind of an exaggeration, but it really does take no time at all). Which is so nice if you’re going to batch this for a party because it doesn’t require a ton of ingredients and takes no time at all. Or if you just want something nice to sip on while you enjoy a nice summer breeze this is great.
If you live in Southern California, that doesn’t apply to THIS weekend because it’s going to be 108 degrees. So I’ll be enjoying this inside, rather than risking the chance of spontaneously combusting into a fireball outside.

These spicy Palomas will give you LIFE. They’re so light and refreshing but with a giant kick in pants from the jalapeno (in a good way). A note I should make – when putting these together, go easier on the jalapeno that you think you may need. If you muddle these too much you might be overwhelmed with spiciness! Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 2 jalapeno slices
- 1/2 cup Tequila
- 1 cup grapefruit juice
- 2 tbsp agave nectar (or more to taste if you like your drink sweeter)
Instructions
- *For a spicier drink, lightly muddle the jalapenos in a cocktail shaker. For a lightly spiced drink, just add the jalapeno slices to cocktail shaker
- Add all remaining ingredients with ice and shake well
- Strain through fine strainer (to remove jalapeno seeds) over salted cocktail glass and enjoy!
I LOVE grapefruit—excited to try this! I’m uncertain about the spicy part, but will give it a go. Thanks for sharing!
