Earl Grey Simple Syrup

Old Fashioned

  • Start by making the simple syrup. In a small sauce pan, heat the sugar and water over medium low heat until the sugar fully dissolves. About 3-5 minutes. Take off heat and add in tea bags, let sit for 1 minute and stir, press down on the tea bags to get as much flavor as possible. Let cool for 1 hour until syrup darkens and thickens. Press on tea bags one more time to get last bit of tea out, remove tea bags and set aside.
  • In a large glass, add bourbon, bitters and simple syrup and stir a few times to combine. Take a bucket glass and run the orange peel along the rim of the glass. Fill with ice or add one large ice cube, pour in bourbon and simple syrup mix and garnish with the orange peel and luxardo cherries.
